View of the Kona Coast
Big Island of Hawaii
The Big Island features elevations from sea level to nearly 14,000 feet, and there is a wet side and a dry side. That
provides for eleven climate zones. Here upland pasture contrasts with distant lava desert.

Having the horizon in the middle is rarely the best, but when there are both interesting clouds and an interesting
foreground, it may be a reasonable compromise. Cloud highlights are blocked; perhaps HRDI or a stitched panorama could
have avoided that.
